Weather Sunny, 80 - Nice!
Kathryn took Friday off to extend the Labor Day Weekend and we drove about an hour to Wolf Road Woods near the quaint town of Willow Springs, IL.
The hike was through the woods on a secluded trail we shared with only a few hardy mountain bikers. The trail was shaded and very nice but a few sections had some pesky gnats. 6.8 Miles, 500ft elevation gain, moderate difficulty and lightly trafficked. Nice!
The hike was well marked but, I was trying out the navigation feature on the AllTrails app. It is awesome. Shows the route with you on it and gives you a notification if you veer off the trail. Will come in very handy on less marked more difficult trails to navigate in the future.
After the hike we went into the town of Willow Springs and had a late lunch at
Spring Forest Deli and Catering and sat in the peaceful garden out back.
Kathryn had a chipotle chicken wrap and I had a shrimp and fish po' boy ... Yum (nice find Kathryn!).
Nice Hike in a nice woods

A fun day of hiking and we are definitely coming back to this area for more hiking.
